I played with both controls in the air but could not really tell a difference when one was set higher than the other. I set mine where I can break traction more comfortably at low speeds and not overangling at highspeeds. Its a bit harder to break traction at low speeds and then compensate with more throttle than to just reduce gyro gain and let your steering hands get more workout avoiding overangles at highspeed.
